Sooooo I’m sure a lot of you have wondered what #OnBecomingEmpowered is all about, go to my YouTube page (bio in my link) and watch this weeks Vlog. I am giving out 3 million Naira to 4 people. It is my own little way of saying thank you, it is also a call to action to get our minds thinking right. #Imusthavemyown because life can happen at anytime and I have seen things change overnight, from losing my parents at the age of 8 to going thru the most heartbreaking divorce at 30! I keep thinking what if? What if I didn’t have a job, a dream, purpose…etc. We all must be prepared. It breaks my heart to see people on social media daily in need and I can’t reach everyone. I feel a of people feel stuck and in order to become some more, we must empower our minds. It’s not about the money, it’s about impacting lives and this year we will start with business ideas, next it’ll be education. I truly want those who genuinely need the money to win the grant so do a one min video with your ideas and make it creative. Have fun with it as it’s going to be a fun process so get your videos up and tag @onbecomingbytokemakinwa, the best videos will be uploaded there and we can can all choose together who makes it to the next round. More info will be released as we go along! Good luck guys

I HAD NO WHERE ELSE TO GO, MY GRADES WERE BAD, SO BAD THE SCHOOL ASKED ME TO LEAVE~Toke Makinwa

20347312_500472190300702_795025101056638976_n”I haven’t always made the right choices but I am thankful for grace. I’m no where near perfect, I struggle sometimes but I’m learning to lean on the grace of God to catch me when I fall. Its quite emotional for me to end my book tour at the University of Lagos cos I remember my time there, I wasn’t the brightest student, I had potential but I was a troubled young girl, I didn’t care much for my books till one day I was advised to withdraw, and I hit rock bottom. I had no where else to go, my grades were bad, so bad the school asked me to leave. Something happened (grace), there was a meeting with all department heads I was granted mercy on humanitarian grounds. My lecturers knew I had it in me but I couldn’t see what they saw, they decided to give me an extra year to turn it around. It was humiliating, I started not quite at the bottom but it was a struggle. My mates had graduated and I was in a new class and boy it was hard but I did it. I don’t know how but I made a 2:2. Instead of 4 years I spent 5/6 but I made it out. It is important for me to go back and meet with the students in Unilag, the ones doing great and the students that are struggling too. Sometimes it takes sharing your story to inspire someone to believe in themselves and I’m always up for it. Dates will be revealed soon.”

Every Story Has a BackEnd…

WHY DID YOU START?ARE YOUR CONVICTIONS WEAK?

no thumb

Patience is a virtue. What is most important is being consistent on your grind. Don’t do today and go on holidays tomorrow. Don’t easily get discouraged.

what is your motivating force? how did you start? Is your resolve strong? Are your convictions weak? These questions are important you answer them. Because the reason you started off the business will determine how you stay on it, the time you dedicate to it and the value you place on it.

Loving what you do easily shows in the way you work. So dedicate time to answer these questions. When you do, wait, be consistent, think outside the box, reward your self no matter how small and see you at the top.

no thumb

Many people are waiting for the big bang, the big money to start up a business! Well, as much as having huge start up capital is good, according to Elewa, you might actually have all the money but no direction, lack consistency and the required business Know-How!

Bunmi is open to learnings and networking which gave her an opportunity to meet mentors who advised and directed her on the requirements of the Pureed Beans business.

We have learnt a few things from Bunmi’s story, you should too! You need;

>>A business Idea that solves a need           IMG-20170313-WA0002

>>Willingness to start small

>>Consistency

>>Mental  Preparedness  because their will be gray days

If you want to start a business, then you must listen to EVERYTHING Elewa has said, follow through and be patient, your magic can happen in less than a year, with less than one thousand Naira start up capital and more loyal customers than you know.

Happy viewing!
