THE VILLAGE AND THE LADY :The Art of Being a Lady -Ndali MODEBE
From the time the girl child is born, She is molded to be as close to perfection as possible. She is raised to be a Lady, to Sit Upright, to Walk Tall, and generally carry herself in Lady-like fashion.
She is taught by her mother, aunts, sisters, friends and everyone that cares, the proper things to do at the right time.
‘This isn’t Lady-Like’, they say.’You ought to do it this way’, they insist. ‘A Lady doesn’t swing on poles’, they retort! Truth be told, it takes time, effort and dedication to Lady a Lady.
‘Let me start by asking a question…’ If it takes a village to raise a child,
How many villages, Or rather what will it take to raise a Lady?
Lady Defined is simply a woman who is Refined, Polite, Cultured, and Well-spoken. While a Village is defined as a Small Community or group of houses in a rural area.
In this write up I am delighted to share with you some simple tips that will assist you on becoming the Lady and don’t forget to drop your thoughts in the comment section. Do you think this is cool?
THE MAGIC WORDS !
If you read your Fairy Tales- Jack and the Bean Stalk you will find out that Jack had three bean seeds that he purchased for the price of a Cow. The Bean seeds later grew into a mighty Bean stalk that led him to the Magical land of the Giants where after some trials he took possession of the golden Goose. Okay… I like to think the three magic bean seeds are the MAGIC words: Thank you, Please and I am sorry. I also like to think that him selling off a huge Cow is the same as letting go of our old set notions and our pride to get the greater treasures of life. Just my thoughts anyway…
Learning to use the Magic Words ”THANK YOU, PLEASE and I AM SORRY” will take you places you least expect.
Why do you think some people get through and others can’t?
It’s simple, THE MAGIC words work. They seem small but they open doors and soothe a roaring temper. The simplest yet the hardest is ‘Please’ It means you’re polite and well mannered. The next magic word is ‘Thank You’ It shows appreciation.
The most powerful is ‘I Am Sorry’ It takes the sting out of the hurt and paves way for forgiveness.
These are the basic simple moves that will up your game as a Lady. They were previously taught in schools as etiquette classes long ago. Remember, it’s something you practice every single day then over time you will perfect the Art of Being a Lady.
BE GRACEFUL: Being graceful amongst ladies is gradually becoming a lost art. Ladies now pride themselves with being harsh and telling it like it is! The title of the book why Men Love Bitches, says it all. Ladies,Is this really all we about? Is this who we really are, BITCHES? I think not, I read somewhere recently that a graceful woman attracts attention and draws respect where ever she goes. You don’t draw respect by being the, ”B” word. We need to retrace our steps. It can be done. Proverbs 31 says it all. A graceful woman is always a Lady. Be graceful in your mannerisms and watch how you will bloom ad flourish.
BE POLITE: Being rude is not lady like is any form or manner. There is no acceptable excuse to be rude. Even in an argument you can choose to express your views without be-littling the other party. Remember what was said about winning an arguement… for every single time you win an argument, you might end up losing friend.
LEARN TO SMILE: The next step is to ‘Smile’…’When you smile you give yourself a face lift,
Without actually undergoing any surgery. You can always spot a Lady from afar.
How? Her smile certainly makes her stand out. A smile is one of the kindest gestures, it speaks volumes, it says, I am happy. I Am approachable and warm. I Am a cheerful Lady. Smile, you will realize it’s worth when you are older. Trust me on this.
These little tips will make the difference between the average girl down the street and the Lady seated on a couch.
BE GENUINELY GOOD NATURED: A lot of crazy things happen every single day. I get shocked every time I read the news headlines. Everyone in this fast paced world of ours is out to trying to out-wit/out-smart the other person. It is difficult finding genuine people that are good on the inside. Here’s a catch, if you can’t find one Be One. Be the person to give up your seat to that elderly woman in the waiting room, be the one to show a sister her button is undone or she’s got lipstick on her teeth, be the neighbor to check in when you hear the lady upstairs screaming hysterically. Be the change you desire sister, teach the change you desire and soon enough the world will gradually become a better place.
