WHEN IT’S MEETING & A DISTRACTION-AHDORA SPEAKS
Listen Up…The reason you may not be getting alot of work done is because you’re spending alot of time in meetings that don’t require your physical presence. .
A key part of time management is cutting down your physical meeting time, using technology. Some of my most productive work, has been with clients outside of Nigeria, who I speak with via skype/hangout, and who have never met me in person. Alot of great work has come out of Emails. .
When I’m invited to physical meetings, I usually give the option of preliminary discussions via technology. I can’t come all the way to your office for you to ask me to “please send a costing via email”. .
Ladies and Gentlemen, I’m not saying you shouldn’t attend meetings at all. However, one thing to keep in mind is — Only you, know how valuable your time is. If you leave it to the other party to determine your value, you will be called into meetings 10 times before an actual transaction (that may not even occur). That is 40-50 hours (including transport time) you could’ve spent elsewhere. What is your Opportunity cost ? .
Moral of the story – Know when its a meeting, and when its a distraction.
…Every Story has a Backend!
